Sequoia Gifted Academy provides independent homeschool families with the educational support and guidance tailored to their unique learning pathways.
Families remain in complete control of their education, partnering witth academic advisors who specialize in gifted and twice-exceptional homeschool education.
Choosing alternative education for your gifted or 2e learner does not require figuring it out on your own. Sequoia Gifted Academy’s Executive Director and support team have personal and professional expertise with the unique needs of gifted/2e homeschoolers. This is what sets us apart, and why we are passionate in our partnership approach.
Sequoia Gifted Academy is a private school satellite program (“PSP”) filed with the State of California.
As a PSP, SGA provides educational support and structure for homeschool families. Learners are considered “private school students” under the PSP, though parents are the primary educators and decision-makers.
Students outside of California, with a few exceptions, may enroll in Sequoia Gifted Academy. In doing so, they must comply with the homeschool regulations in California and their home state. We will help guide them with that compliance.
While independent homeschool students may enroll in Sequoia Gifted Academy as designated private students, their family is in complete control of their full time education. Families may choose any learning method, including online or local classes, online learning project-based learning, world schooling, or any other methodology that fits their family.
Sequoia Gifted Academy intentionally chooses not to provide an all-in-one curriculum. After serving more than three hundred highly and profoundly gifted learners, we believe a la carte education, choosing from amongst the best of all available resources, generally fits our asynchronous learners best.
After several years of working with gifted/2e homeschool families, we have been rrequently asked if we are able to provide an “umbrella” for homeschool families. Reasons include:
1. Busy families prefer more structured support, particularly with homeschool regulations and planning;
2. Parents (and kids!) prefer having a named school and guidance counselor for transcript purposes;
3. Our umbrella support provides more consistent scheduling, coordination amongst instructional resources, and relational mentorship;
4. Sequoia Gifted Academy, rather than the family’s personal information, is registered with the state for homeschool purposes.
5. There is a significant savings in Sequoia Gifted Academy’s bundled option.
Charter students are already enrolled as public school students under California law. Charter families can obtain all of the services that Sequoia Gifted Academy provides independent families through Sequoia Gifted and Creative’s individual services.
Cognitive (COGAT or OLSAT) and standards-based achievement (IOWA or Stanford-1o) assessments are available for families who seek them, but they are not required unless the homeschool regulattions in your state require them. (We will help you determine that.)
Standards=based learning is also not required. For those who prefer to align their learning with common core standards, Sequoia Gifted Academy does have frameworks for each grade level K-12.
Sequoia Gifted Academy’s base tuition is $1995/year* (August-May) with the following services:
Sequoia Gifted Academy families may also take advantage of 50% discounts for assessments and additional consultations.
And that’s why Sequoia Gifted offers both a la cart services and a more structured homeschool umbrella.
Sequoia Gifted and Creative has served more than 300 highly and profoundly gifted learners, the large majority of whom homeschool to better fit their unique needs. Our families generously share with us and in social media that they have found with Sequoia Gifted:
The support and guidance of experienced educators who truly understand and support advanced and asynchronous learners;
who have first-hand experience with parenting these complex and amazing youth;
who are highly experienced with homeschooling across the US,
who are highly familiar with alternative learning resources, dual enrollment, early graduation, and APs;
Who are strategic problem-solvers able to think outside the box in advocating for our learners;
and who highly value relational connection and encouragement.
